Minitab Training
Minitab is the statistical analysis standard for quality engineering, Six Sigma work and continuous improvement across UK manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace and food sectors. This one-day hands-on course covers the working analytical toolkit — capability analysis, hypothesis testing, control charts and regression — with the engineering judgement to know which technique to reach for given a fresh problem.
Course overview.
Hands-on throughout in Minitab with real industry datasets. We build the statistical foundations in the morning and apply them to practical quality investigations in the afternoon. By the end of the day you'll be able to commission, run and interpret a serious statistical analysis with confidence — and you'll know which features of Minitab to lean on for which problems.
Who it's for.
Quality engineers, process engineers, Six Sigma Green and Black Belt candidates, manufacturing leads, and continuous-improvement practitioners. Particularly useful for engineers moving into quality from another discipline, and for established quality teams formalising their statistical practice.
What you'll learn.
Descriptive statistics, distributions and capability
Getting Minitab to work for you on the foundational tasks: distribution analysis, descriptive statistics, normality testing, capability indices (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) and the practical interpretation that turns numbers into engineering judgement. The features and shortcuts that distinguish productive Minitab users from button-pressing ones.
Hypothesis testing and control charts
T-tests, F-tests, ANOVA, chi-squared and the underlying logic of statistical significance. Plus the control-chart family (X-bar/R, X-bar/S, individual/moving range, p, np, c, u) configured properly in Minitab, with the Western Electric rules and pattern detection that drives genuine process control.
Regression, gauge R&R and the analytical workflow
Linear regression, residual analysis and Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility — the techniques that show up most often in real quality investigations. Plus the Minitab project-file discipline that turns one-off analyses into reusable analytical workflows you can hand over to the next person.
